In many web projects, Write Across Media’s Kerry Sunderland operates as an interpreter or translator – providing that essential link between a client (who may not have specialist in-house digital or content production capabilities) and the web development team, who are often great at what they do because they’re so focused on functionality and cutting code.
Kerry describes her role as the ‘client advocate’ and, when working with the SCRUM (Agile) project management methodology, she acts as the ‘product owner’, which is another term for project lead or key stakeholder. Part of the product owner’s responsibilities is to have a vision of what she wishes to build, and to convey that vision to the development team. As product owner, Kerry also manages the product backlog, which is a prioritised features list for development. She communicates closely with the client to ensure they have input into key decisions.
Kerry has recently provided web project management services to:
- Nelson Tasman Tourism
- Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco.
